I was talking with Hot Mama one night this past week about how we have seen ourselves mature over the last 9 months. One of the major ways that we have seen is by us starting to think one step ahead.
When we first started out as parents there were times we didn’t think about nap times or the diaper bag or feedings and the such. Now, even though all we think about it is when is his next nap time and does he need to be fed, when we leave or are even thinking about leaving the house we have to think about him. It took me a good 3 to 4 months to start thinking about what is next but here I am.
For example, yesterday we went shopping, not that big a task, now that the chipmunk is 9 months old. He was getting tired at home and it was either put him down for a nap and then leave after that, but that would put us into dinner time and we didn’t want to be out at that time, only because we had dinner at home. We decided we were going to a mall that was 40 minutes away and that would be plenty of time for the chipmunk to nap.
Well, not only did he not nap, he was cranky the whole way up to the shopping center. Once we got him into his stroller he was fine, the guy loves to look around and see what is going on. But as soon as we started to lay the stroller back for him he fell asleep. Thank God! It made the trip more pleasurable for hot mama and myself that he was sleeping, and a good thing that he was able to sleep in the stroller since that could be his place of naps this up-coming week on our vacation for five days.
This vacation is a very much needed one, five days out of the house, in a nice hotel, and the transportation is the worry of someone else. We are traveling by train which could be interesting with a 9 month old but also should be fun.
If I don’t get around to getting a post up tomorrow, I will see all of you on flip side. Since I really don’t want to be blogging while I am on vacation and I do have a weekly segment on Fridays that still needs to be posted, my friend Jamie over at The Life of Jamie is going to take over the Friday FAIL for this week.
